About us

My first experience breeding cats was with Birmans and then Ragdolls.

The first two cats I bred and were Registered in 2009 were called Merlin and Sweet Shiraz. I was then registered with Waratah National.

I used part of both their names to create my prefix Merli/shaz which I have carried over into my Bengal breeding.

I stopped breeding Ragdolls when my 1st marriage fell apart and I got divorced.

My history with Bengals started in 2018.

It all began with a simple idea fueled by my wishlist that had been on hold for many years a deep passion for Bengals. I have always loved spots, in all animals like dalmations. I even bred the first recognised spotted pocket pet rats.

I never thought that I would ever be able to own my own Bengal never mind being able to breed them. That was my utmost dream.

Al Junglepaw Bengals sold and became my mentor and partner at the start.  He was a delightful person to deal with very friendly and supportive.  When he decided to retire I kept my last kitten a male from a mating who is Adonis the biggest sook you can meet. Loves his belly rubbed and spends most nights cuddled up with hubby.

I then purchased Arrowfield Umbra who decided that she would take her time before she had her first litter.  2 years of waiting and we finally have the most beautiful looking babies with Umbra and Adonis born 15th Jan 25.

In between I got impatient waiting and didn't know if I was every going to get kittens from Umbra.  So I purchased 2 cats from (I found out later) an unethical breeder in NSW.  I won't go into all the stress and issues it has caused me but I'm a more knowledgable and careful person because of it.

I have had such sweet, stunning babies with Shandy one of those girls.  Unfortunately Zirra the other had birthing difficulties with her first born and it was stuck in her vulva.  The vet I went to was very incompetent and instead of giving her a small cut to give the baby extra room to allow delivery just used forceps and ripped it out ripping its lip in half and according to her breaking its jaw. It was pts. I asked her if Zirra had any damage or needed any pain relief etc. She just said she was fine, wouldnt let us stay there for the next delivery and sent us home. Zirra became very ill, lost 2nd baby on day 2 and the others were unable to survive the hand feeding.

PLEASE NOTE - I dont recommend the

Bundoora Vets in Plenty Road Bundoora MELBOURNE.

We tried to talk to them and requested copy of the notes which were only provided after they had been edited.

They were unhelpful and refused to take any responsibility for what had occurred. And wouldn't even give me the vets name although it's illegal for them to withhold that information.  This is all in writing from them.
